Live Oak United Church of Christ has deep roots in justice activism. Our members live out our church’s mission through a wide range of actions, from marching in the annual Fullerton CROP Hunger Walk, to organizing a clothing drive for Trans Pride Day at LGBTQ Center OC; from joining in an effort to block a destructive plastics plant in Louisiana’s Cancer Alley, to working with Just Peace allies to craft a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza – now adopted by more than 100 UCC churches; from gathering food each month supporting food security in our community, to hosting free laundry days at a local laundromat.
To help guide our efforts, the Live Oak Justice Team has identified five areas of focus:
- Creation Justice – Healing the Earth, Protecting the Climate
- LGBTQ Rights and Advocacy
- Just Peace
- Race and Racism
- Housing and Food Security
