Open & Affirming

The members of Live Oak UCC share a common mission to achieve equity for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people.

“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” Romans 15:7

For more than 30 years, the United Church of Christ has been on a clear course of welcome and inclusion. In 1985, the denomintation adopted the Open and Affirming (ONA) resolution. To say that a congregation in the UCC is “Open and Affirming”, means that it has publicly declared that people of all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome in its full life and ministry (e.g. membership, leadership, employment etc.)
